Amnesty International is looking for a Campaigner for two strategic campaigns – Antidiscrimination Campaign and Refugee and Migrants’ Rights.
About the role
Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide organization working to end human rights violations. As a Campaigner for Refugee and Migrants’ Rights and Antidiscrimination Campaigns you will monitor the political and legal situation in Poland and in selected countries. You will provide authoritative legal and policy thematic advice to the specialists in Amnesty International’s (AI) Polish Section and international movement, and carry out advocacy work to uphold the rights of refugees and migrants and to fight discrimination.
You will respond to emerging human rights issues in relation to the above themes.
About you
You will have specialist extensive knowledge of antidiscrimination directives, refugee law and human rights law; professional experience in human rights; working knowledge of international law relevant to migrants’ rights; policy development experience; good interpersonal skills; project management and organizational skills; excellent communication skills. You will have experience of planning, organizing and prioritizing work under pressure and to deadlines. The post holder will work on both discrimination and refugee and migrants’ rights issues, and occasionally internal displacement.

Job Summary
JOB PURPOSE: lead two strategic campaigns: Antidiscrimination Campaign and Refugee and Migrants’ Rights Campaign, develop Amnesty International’s policy positions, and carry out advocacy work to uphold the rights of refugees, migrants, internally displaced and stateless persons.
Reporting to: Head of Programme Unit
The post has no line management responsibilities but may involve the supervision of volunteers and interns
Other key relationships: International Secretariat teams, section refugee and migrants’ rights coordinators, other NGOs (international, regional and national).
DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: Programme Unit leads the development and application of policies and strategies in Polish section that maximize the effectiveness of Amnesty International's research, education and campaigning to promote human rights and end human rights violations.
Other key relationships: Ativism Coordinator, Education Coordinator , Media Officer, PR Officer.
In particular the post will cooperate day to day with the International Secretariat (London), European Institution Office (Brussels) and others sections and structures of AI.
Job Description
Provide expert legal, policy and thematic advice on discrimination, refugee and migrant rights’ law, policies and issues, individual cases, and related issues to Amnesty International staff, including by reviewing and approving Amnesty International materials, to ensure accuracy and relevance, the integration of these issues into relevant Amnesty International work, and consistent and coordinated implementation of these policies and strategies.
Develop Amnesty International Polish Section policy, standards and guidelines in relation to discrimination and refugees, migrants, internally displaced persons, and stateless persons to enable Polish section and international movement to call for effective protection of human rights.
Represent Amnesty International at relevant meetings, regularly reporting back to the Head of Program Unit and develop media contacts and otherwise act as an Amnesty International expert spokesperson on these issues to raise public awareness of Amnesty International and its calls for action, build support for concrete recommendations for change, and position Amnesty International at the forefront of the human rights movement. Conduct meetings with state officials and other relevant interlocutors on the issues related to the strategic campaigns.
